The Mighty Long Walk is primarily a fundraising initiative and we would love you to set and reach a fundraising target of at least $100 (that's $10 every km you walk!). The registration fee covers the cost of putting on the event so anything that is raised in addition goes directly into support and education. We hope that you join our extremely worthy cause and with our support, you will reach your desired goal!
The Mito Foundation is the organiser of The Mighty Long Walk and as such has taken full financial responsibility for the event. 100% of profits from The Mighty Long Walk will go to fund the Mito Foundation’s patient support, research and education/awareness programmes.
Registration fees aim to cover the cost of the event including, but not limited to: insurances, logistics, council fees, event management, credit card fees and marketing. That way every dollar raised through donations will go to support desperately needed research into mito, the provision of support to patients and their families and the investment in education and awareness about mito.
Finding a cure, or at least some form of meaningful treatment, will take a concerted effort from a large group of people and through your support of this event, we have hope that this will happen as quickly as possible!
The Mighty Long Walk will go ahead come rain or shine! No refunds for wet weather will be provided. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for more info
There is one checkpoint along the route which will provide water, fruit and sunscreen. Medical staff will also be stationed at the checkpoint.
There is no storage facility, so ensure that your bag only contains what you require for the day.
Only certified guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs accompanied by handlers carrying a handler’s identity card are permitted to take part in The Bloody Long Walk.
We don’t offer medals as we try to ensure our event costs are largely covered by registration fees, meaning that all funds raised will go into supporting those living with mito, research and education/awareness programmes.
